Zane Burkmar aka Sane has been helping put Leicester on the map for a while. Coming up as part of BLG crew alongside the likes of Maniscooler, Twisted Pennys and grime heavyweight Kamakaze, Sane has been putting in work and gradually carving a lane of his own.
Possessing an enviable level of versatility that over the years has seen him straddle genres from Grime to Hip Hop to R&B and a multitude of other sub-influences, Sane has forged a style with producer Lowpass Luke that is starkly unique to them. Drawing on Sane’s talent for melody and long-time aptitude for bars combined with Lowpass Luke’s distinctive beat-making (which has contributed to the rise of names including Jafro and TrueMendous), the duo are making music that refuses genre pigeon-holes.
The long awaited follow up to 2017’s Growing Backwards, new project The Moving EP builds on the pair’s creative groundwork to deliver something more polished, melody driven and commercially viable without losing the realness and sincerity of their earlier work. From the warmly anthemic hooks on lead single ‘Blue Love’ and most recent drop ‘F.W.T.O.’ to latin influenced banger ‘Sometimes’ and chilled reflection of closing tracks ‘Pride Is All’ and ‘Hungry’, The Moving EP is an assured step forward.
